What does freedom mean to you ?

I think in one way shape or form we create prisons in our mind. Once in my life I had a chance to spend 5 weeks driving across country. I spent thousands of dollars and didn’t care. I wasn’t concerned with time or even what day it was. For 5 weeks I was free from all the stress of life and it felt good.

When I got home reality slapped me in the face again. I spent many years in depression, because in my heart I knew what freedom was and I wasn’t living it. Going from job to job, not sure what do with my life or even what direction I should travel. ( At this point in my story I would like to mention that I have never been concerned about “money” per say I have always had it.) Many people believe its the money that brings freedom, I’ll go more into this a little later on.

That vacation I took many years ago when I was young…

after I took that vacation my mind would always go back to that feeling of freedom I felt on that trip. I was most effected by the differences in they way I was treated from state to state. Ironically the poorer the state the more free people I found. But I also saw the poverty and the lack of basic essentials like running water. When I came home from that vacation I remember sitting in my living room staring out at the lake behind my house, feeling empty and trapped again. I spent close to the next 10years feeling that way. I couldn’t find what it was that I was missing. I didn’t know why I was trapped. I just felt that inside. I have money, family etc.. Really no reason to complain. Then out of nowhere I finally realized what it was.

Once I figured out how to free myself, I wanted to share it with the world. The only problem is it was a mixture of things that led me through a breakthrough.

First thing is I discovered is who I was. (I have always been and probably always be a teacher, I think each of us have special talents and gifts that god gives us to use. I think most times though people do what they want to do instead.

I have been involved with Martial Arts since birth, my father instilled that in me at a very young age. I have studied several martial arts styles but the two styles that has impacted my life the most are Tai Chi and Wing Chun. (I will talk about these more on another post some other time.)

Through the grace of god and martial arts I finally realized what my purpose is. TO KILL!!!!(lols just kidding)

One of the Martial Arts I study is Tai Chi through regular practice I have found the ability to free my mind as I did when I was driving cross country and that led to my personal breakthrough.

I have seen alot of hurt , pain, suffering in this world, I have always wondered why I have been so blessed in life. I don’t deserve it anymore then the next person.

So Once I found out the root cause of my own prison I finally felt free. Freedom comes at a price in one shape or form. For me the price is I have to live this sappy happy go lucky everything is peachy life while people around are struggling for a cup of coffee. I CAN’T live that way.

Money REALLY doesn’t free you from your prison, each persons prison is their own. They may blame a lack of money but thats not the cause.

So whats the cause? I was to busy living in what I thought life should be and wasn’t focused on what life is.

I was to busy blaming people for things I caused myself.

I wasn’t willing to stop and listen to someone else.

I wanted to do things my way inspite of the the fact that the wheel was already invented.

And I wasn’t willing to do what It took to accomplish what I set forth to do.

I have to be totally honest with you right here. It has cost me thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars

studying martial arts and even more money on experiencing life. Sadly Most people will never feel a true sense of freedom.

The freedom I am talking about is you wake up and do exactly what you want to do, everyday not because you have to, because you want to. Thats true freedom. You do need money , but this type of freedom is in most peoples grasp if they choose not to take it.
