If you know your personality type, you will have a clear idea of what your strengths and weaknesses are. After all, there are a wide variety of personalities that inhabit this world. There are tremendous efforts at recognizing the different personality types to understand and evaluate people’s behaviors.

Re-Evaluating Yourself

Getting acquainted with yourself and recognizing your skills will help assess your approach and perspective in life. Therefore, you should continually ask yourself questions that will enable you to determine what type of personality you have. Depending on your personality, you also acquire certain skills or qualities. The qualities you possess is what helps you move forward in your efforts toward success.

On the other hand, knowing your personality type also enables you to determine what motivates you to do something. When you have goals, motivation plays a key role in ensuring that they are realized.

There are two aspects of an individual’s personality that impact your level of motivation:

1.Your overall personality: whether you are weak or strong.
2.How people perceive you as a person, which is often associated with your physical and mental abilities.

Impact of Personality

Most psychologists and behavioral studies understand and assess what each person’s personality types are based on the following criterion:

-Self-perception
-Others’ perception of one’s self
-Ability to deal and cope with stress
-Their communicative qualities
-Their fears
-What motivates them

There are several factors that impact how one perceives him or herself. It is a combination of external and internal factors. This leads to some people feeling isolated, outcast, or inferior. Hence, they lack the motivation needed to achieve more of their goals.

Most of these are due to images of themselves as a result of social standards, especially those who feel are unable to meet those standards. Aside from minimizing the success rate, it also drags your self-confidence down to a point of depression. Learning about your personality and all the other factors that impact it will enable you to address it and increase your confidence thereafter.

Personality Studies and Goal Setting

Identifying your personality type influences how you set goals and work at achieving it. Depending on your type of personality, there are certain advantages and disadvantages.

Here are examples of personality type and its relevance to goal setting:

*For determined and driven personalities (High D), they tend to believe in themselves so much, to a point of invincibility. Hence, they set huge goals that will entail determination with high expectations. Although they might encounter failure at some point, they remain focused on the goal and will easily bounce back.

*For the High I personalities, they are usually optimistic and often aim towards the major goal. However, this is not to say that they are not enjoying the ride towards that major goal. Their major pitfall is that they can easily lose focus on the task and are too consumed with having a “good time”.

*The final personality type, High C, prefer to do some research, data analysis, and calculations before making their move. If they do make risks, these are usually calculated risks. One major disadvantage with these personality types is that they never reach the “doing” process as they are so consumed with planning.

Have you determine which among them are you? If not, then it is best that you know your personality type so you can assess what helpful qualities you have and which ones you must get rid of.
